My iPhone's display had been acting up for over a week, so I finally gave in and booked a Genius Bar appointment. I wasn't thrilled about it — the phone was well past its warranty, and it had already been repaired twice at this point. Little did I know I was walking into one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had.

The first visit

The first visit ended with the standard hardware checks and the classic advice: wipe the phone and start fresh. Not the solution I was hoping for, but the staff were patient and walked me through it properly. So I did it — and the display issues crept back even after a full restore. Back to the store I went, slightly frustrated but still hopeful.

The unexpected solution

This time they suggested keeping the phone in for repair. I agreed and mentally prepared myself for a painful bill. Here's the thing though — my display warranty had only expired a few days earlier, and they waived the repair fee anyway. All 440-odd dollars of it.

And when I came back to collect it, I noticed something odd: the serial number on my "repaired" phone was completely different. They hadn't repaired it at all — they'd replaced the entire thing. Battery health: 100%. On a phone this far out of warranty!

Still impressed

What got me wasn't just the replacement — it was how effortless the whole thing felt. No fuss, no hoops to jump through, no twenty-minute debates about warranty fine print. They just made it right.

It's experiences like these that remind me why I keep coming back to Apple. Things go wrong with tech — that's a given. It's what happens next that makes the difference.
